The Grand Wagoneer lineup features one muscular powertrain for all four of its trim levels. This engine is mated to an 8-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission that helps optimize the Grand Wagoneer’s low-end torque, as well as enhancing fuel efficiency. The Grand Wagoneer also features standard Quadra-Lift Air Suspension which offers a smooth and stable driving experience as well as a maximum ground clearance of 10 inches. The Grand Wagoneer can tow nearly 10,000 pounds when equipped with the Heavy Duty Trailer Tow Package, and can also handle water fording in up to 24 inches.
Like the Grand Wagoneer, the Lincoln Navigator uses a sole powertrain option across its three trim level lineup. The engine for all Navigator models is a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 which provides a hefty 450 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque. The first two trim levels have standard rear-wheel drive, with the top level Black Label trim receiving standard 4-wheel drive. The other models have 4-wheel drive as an option for those who desire it. The Navigator’s large size can make it feel a bit sluggish at times, despite its high torque rating. It also offers a Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow package but even then, its maximum tow rating is just 8,700 pounds, over a thousand pounds less than that of the Grand Wagoneer.
The Grand Wagoneer is elegantly designed, with helpful features like power-deploying side steps, and ambient LED lighting illuminating each entrance. The interior features a 3-row setup that can seat either seven or eight passengers depending on the chosen configuration. Each trim level receives standard leather interior, with Nappa leather on the first trim, and quilted Palermo leather on upper trims. The Grand Wagoneer features a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, wireless smartphone charging, a 12-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple, Android and Amazon Alexa smartphone integration, available Rear Seat Entertainment displays, and an available temperature-controlled cooler bin. There are also over 120 safety features to choose from, with adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, and lane-keeping assist all standard.
The Lincoln Navigator seats up to eight passengers across three rows of seating. Naturally, the top-level trim is the most impressive, offering features such as a head-up display, massaging front seats, and a 20-speaker Revel Ultima sound system. Its CoPilot 360 safety package comes standard on all models, and includes features like lane-keeping assist, automatic high beams, and front and rear parking sensors. Notably, the Lincoln Navigator only offers standard leather interior on its upper two trims, with the base-level receiving imitation leather instead. Some of the features you can find on the first trim level include ambient LED lighting, a hands-free tailgate, and a heated steering wheel.
At first glance, the Grand Wagoneer and the Lincoln Navigator seem to have a lot in common.
