The luxury SUV is undoubtedly an impressive class, and it’s about to get a little bit of a facelift with the brand-new Grand Wagoneer and the latest version of the Cadillac Escalade. The Grand Wagoneer bursts onto the scene with a top-notch V8 engine, a spectacular leather interior, and some of the best tech features that money can buy. The Escalade counters this with some impressive features in its own right, such as keyless ignition and entry and some wonderful option packages. It’s no question that either one of these SUVs would make a great addition to anyone’s driveway, but which one has the advantage? For the answer, continue reading!
At launch, the Grand Wagoneer will come with one solid engine. It’s a 6.4-liter V8 which is capable of producing an astonishing 471 horsepower and 455 lb-ft of torque and pairs with a smooth eight-speed automatic transmission. While we do think there will some options in the future, such as a diesel or a hybrid. For added towing, the Grand Wagoneer comes with a Class IV integrated tow hitch. You even get a fantastic premium adjustable air suspension that raises or lowers your ride height, depending on the situation. Best of all, you get a spectacular Selec-Terrain system, which provides several different modes to help you on your journey. Four-wheel-drive comes standard, which is a nice bonus.
No matter what trim you go with, the Cadillac Escalade comes with a standard 6.2-liter V8 engine that kicks out a nice 420 horsepower and an automatic transmission. In addition, a diesel engine is available, and it’s a turbocharged 3.0-liter four-cylinder that comes with 277 horsepower, which also comes with an automatic transmission. The Escalade comes standard with rear-wheel-drive, but four-wheel-drive is available if you choose. While there is a lot to like about these engines, the standard V8 on the Grand Wagoneer is more powerful.
The interior of the Grand Wagoneer is decked out with some excellent materials and some top-notch technology. Most interior materials are made from wood and aluminum, including the air vents and the metal rotary. All of the seats are comfortable thanks to their premium leather, and they come with a diamond interior pattern in the stitching and perforation. Several outstanding features are also available, including four-zone climate control and front seats with 24-way adjustability, massage functions, and heating and ventilation, and seating for seven or eight passengers. As for tech, the Grand Wagoneer comes loaded with such features as a 12-inch digital cluster display, a 12-inch center touchscreen, a 10-inch lower touchscreen, and a 10.25-inch front passenger screen. There is even a spectacular McIntosh audio system with 23 speakers and a massive 1,375 watts of power. Each touchscreen comes with the latest Uconnect system, Amazon Alexa, and wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. The backseat includes a rear entertainment system.
Five trims are included with the Cadillac Escalade, and there are some exciting features available. The aptly named Luxury trim starts us off. It comes with full leather seating, keyless entry and ignition, heated front and rear seats, tri-zone climate control, wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and front and rear parking sensors. Then there is the Premium Luxury trim which adds adaptive air suspension, a rear-seat entertainment system, and two performance packages with tons of equipment via a Driver Assist Tech package and Performance Package. Finally, higher trims round things out nicely with massaging front seats, a leather-wrapped instrument panel, and black wheels, and a gloss black trim. The Escalade comes with some fascinating features, but the Grand Wagoneer offers you more.
There is a lot to like about both of these wonderful SUVs, but we will give the victory to the Grand Wagoneer! The Grand Wagoneer comes with a more powerful engine, and the features are far more advanced than what the Escalade offers. Are you interested in taking a test drive of the Grand Wagoneer?
